August 20, 2014 – What You Should Know About Patents

In this webinar Gordon & Rees attorney, John Haller, discussed patent prosecution, licensing and litigation.

He reviewed the Constitution’s enabling language, relevant federal statutes and regulations including Title 35 of the United States Code, 37 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations), the MPEP (Manual of Patent Examining Procedure), and recent changes in the patent laws.

In addition to the various types of national patents, international patent considerations were addressed.

Patent licensing and assignments considerations including employment and independent contractor relationships were introduced.

He also discussed the various considerations which are undertaken when patent litigation is being considered including validity and infringement opinions, related causes of action, party selection, jurisdiction, pleadings, preliminary discovery, discovery, claim construction, invalidity, infringement and damages along with dispositive motions and settlement opportunities examined.
